In January this year, Homeschool Alumni Reaching Out (HARO) announced the first scholarship competition of its kind: a scholarship for homeschool alumni, funded by homeschool alumni, with a judging panel made up exclusively of homeschool alumni. Mary Menges, who studies at Monmouth University was awarded HARO’s 2015 Alumni Scholarship for Women in STEM Fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math).
We are excited to announce that, recently, three members of our community have generously donated a total of $750 to renew HARO’s Alumni Scholarship for Women in STEM Fields for 2016! In light of these donations, HARO is launching a scholarship fundraising drive to match (and hopefully surpass) the donations. Our goal is to raise a total of $2,000 (at least $1,250 more than we have already received) before the end of the year. This $2,000 would be split equally between two scholarships: the renewed Alumni Scholarship for Women in STEM Fields and a brand new scholarship for LGBT* homeschool alumni pursuing higher education. (Any extra money raised will be used for additional and/or future scholarships.)
If you would like to donate to HARO’s scholarship drive, please click here. All donations to HARO are secure through PayPal and tax-deductible, as HARO is a federally registered 501(c)3 non-profit.
(If you cannot donate, but would like to help out, spread the word about the scholarship drive! Tell your friends in person, via email, or through social media. For example, share this on Twitter! Or share this on Facebook!)
Thank you in advance!
